# View AI moderated study responses

When participants start submitting responses to your AI moderated study, you can view them on the **Responses** tab. When viewing participant responses, you can switch between several views:

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FmjdJA7J8xEKK8GUXPu7Q%2FAI_mod_responses%20(2).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=2c70a57d-fa27-4671-8326-d2f4829bcaf5" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Questions:** All questions in your study alongside their cumulative responses. Use this to compare how participants responded.
* **Explore your data:** A chat with Dscout AI where you can ask questions about your data. Available on certain plans or with the Dscout AI add-on. For more information, see [Explore your data](/dscout-ai/dscout-ai-studio/explore-your-data.md).
* **Participants:** All responses from a selected participant. Use this to see how one person responded.
* **Screener (auto-recruit only):** All responses to your screener questions.
* **Primary attributes (auto-recruit only):** Primary targeting attributes for your participants.
* **Tags:** Responses grouped by custom tags you've created.

### View by question

By default, the **Responses** tab groups responses by question, giving you a bird's-eye view of how everyone responded to each question. For closed-ended questions, you'll see a graphic representation (like a bar chart) of responses. For open-ended questions, you'll see an AI-generated summary of responses along with emerging themes.

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2F5ypHHpvEhG7kmcc89UNu%2FAI_mod_responses.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=7a7ebe4c-4f56-4a1f-a0d3-4837165e8265" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### View by participant

Click the **Participants** icon in the left sidebar to see a selected participant's response to every question, including the high-level summary for open-ended questions. You can view more details about the participant—including demographic information—in the right side panel.

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FaV1uMkdl6G7E1XJlxNmf%2FAI_mod_responses%20(4).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=97e5c9e3-1493-45a6-8836-4752cbbcb7e1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

From this view, you can also open a participant's full session recording (audio, screen, and camera). Select the participant, then click **View full recording**.

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FQmQwRi5lGALyKkpxoySM%2FAI_mod_responses%20(5).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=e21cfc9f-5244-4fdd-9e8b-7a19451e17f5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** If you spot a particularly interesting response, click the **Play** button in the top-right corner of the question to jump straight to that moment in the session recording.
{% endhint %}

For more information, see [View AI moderated study session recordings](/ai-moderated-studies/analyze-an-ai-moderated-study/view-ai-moderated-study-session-recordings.md).

### Emerging themes

To get an immersive first look at your data, click the **Emerging themes** icon in the left sidebar:

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2F6vQfvzwhOTG4iNskPQxx%2FAI_mod_responses%20(1).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=8946ef49-e409-4ac1-a53b-ab179a2b500e" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Here you'll find automatic playlists that update with new clips as responses roll in. Themes are identified using your research objectives as inspiration, as well as topics that arise across participants.

### Visual intelligence

When enabled, visual intelligence captures data based on participants' expressions and actions they take on their screens. This data is displayed in various forms throughout analysis of an AI moderated study. For more information, see [Visual intelligence](/ai-moderated-studies/analyze-an-ai-moderated-study/visual-intelligence.md).

<figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FW7h69grAY0TovYY8CDll%2FVisual_intelligence%20(8).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=553f3075-c1a9-4a4a-9a7f-960d680b218c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Filter responses

Across all views, you can filter the data that's displayed—for example, to show only responses from participants who made a particular multiple choice selection, or to filter by attributes like age and gender.

**To filter responses:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Navigate to the **Responses** tab of your study.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FNpfpEo1OguvqVk5DcuiK%2FAI_mod_responses%20(3).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=2d6855e4-e4b3-4f34-add2-7a40abe49fae" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **Filter** icon in the top-right corner. The filters drop-down is displayed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select your desired filters.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://3976082747-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FIKfn7RcT4CW9XaIbqAdd%2Fuploads%2FVpEKRiz7qZuLPpUJKG3l%2FAI_mod_responses%20(6).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=2096940b-2857-490d-975d-aa09ad5c20c6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, the displayed responses are filtered to your criteria. Return to the filters menu any time to change your selections, or click **Clear all** to reset.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/ai-moderated-studies/analyze-an-ai-moderated-study/view-ai-moderated-study-responses.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
