Dscout offers a suite of AI analysis features that help you get to the heart of your research results faster and more efficiently. When analyzing your missions, these features automatically generate summaries, identify themes, and highlight notable moments across open-ended questions and interviews.

AI analysis features
The availability and functionality of AI analysis varies across Dscout mission types, so refer to the table below for an overview of each feature and follow the links provided to learn more:

Initiate AI analysis
Initiating AI analysis looks a little different depending on your mission type. Refer to the sections below for mission-specific instructions.
Express missions
In Express missions, AI analysis is initiated on the mission level. This means analysis will be generated for every applicable question at once. And once generated, the results will be available for all collaborators viewing the same mission.
To initiate AI analysis in an Express mission:
- Navigate to the Responses tab of your mission.
- Click the AI settings button in the top right corner.
- Click Start AI analysis.
AI analysis typically takes a few minutes, but it can take a few hours if you have a high number of responses. When your results are ready, you’ll find them on the Responses tab. You can show or hide AI analysis features from view using the AI settings menu.
Diary missions
In Diary missions, AI analysis is initiated on the activity level. This means you can select specific activities to generate results for. Once generated, the results will be available for all collaborators viewing the same activity.
To initiate AI analysis in a Diary mission:
- Navigate to the Analyze tab of your mission.
- Click the AI settings button in the top right corner.
- Select activities to analyze.
- Click Start AI analysis.
AI analysis typically takes a few minutes, but it can take a few hours if you have a high number of responses. When your results are ready, you’ll find them for your chosen activities on the Analyze tab. You can show or hide AI analysis features from view using the AI settings menu. To initiate analysis for additional activities, repeat the steps above.
Live missions
In Live missions, AI analysis is automatically initiated at the completion of each session. When your results are ready, you’ll find them for each completed session on the Sessions tab.
