Taking screenshots on your mobile device
A mission may require you to upload a screenshot. Additionally, if you’re experiencing a problem on our mobile app, our tech support team may also ask you to send a screenshot to help troubleshoot the problem.
If you don’t know how to take a screenshot on your mobile device, you’ve come to the right place. Learn how to take a screenshot with your device below.
Pro Tip: When dealing with screenshots, dscout needs permission to access your media storage. Read more about granting app permissions here.
Android devices
- Navigate to the screen or app you wish to capture.
- Press the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
- This screenshot will show up in your Gallery app for you to upload into the dscout mobile app.
- Log into your account on the dscout mobile app.
- Tap on the Triple Horizontal Lines icon ☰ on the top-left corner of your screen to surface the side menu.
- Tap on Settings.
- Uncheck the feature that says Use Secure Mode.
iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus (and earlier iPhones)
- Navigate to the screen or app you wish to capture.
- Press and hold the Power button on the right side of the phone and the Home button at the same time. The screen will flash white and you’ll hear a camera shutter sound (if your sound is enabled).
- If you’re on iOS 10 or earlier, the screenshot will be saved to your All Photos album. If you’re on iOS 11 or later, you’ll be able to edit and markup your screenshot instantly before uploading it into the dscout mobile app.
iPhone XS and newer
- Navigate to the screen or app you wish to capture.
- Press and hold the Side button on the right side of the phone and the Volume Up button at the same time.
- The screen will flash white and you’ll hear a camera shutter sound (if your sound is enabled). You’ll be able to access your photo in your Photos app before uploading it into the dscout mobile app.
