If you want to share data from your study outside of Dscout, you have several options to export it. You can export study responses, customize crosstab analysis, and more.
To export data from a media survey:
- Navigate to the Responses tab of your study.
- Click the Export mission data button in the top right corner. The export modal is displayed.
- Choose what you want to export.
- Click Download selected. A progress modal is displayed.
- When prompted, click Download in the progress modal to complete your export.
Refer to the sections below for information on what options are available on each tab of the export modal.
Basic
From the Basic tab of the export modal, you can download full participant responses (.csv files), session recordings (.mp4 files), and more. Here, make a selection and click Download selected to complete your export. When prompted, click Download in the progress modal.

| Chart data (.zip) |
Download a .zip file containing every chart from your study in .png format. These are the charts you see when viewing responses by question in your study. For example, multiple choice questions and their associated bar charts. |
| Entry photos and videos (.zip) |
Download a .zip file containing all photos and videos submitted as part of participant responses. Photos export in .jpg files and videos export in .mp4 files. |
| Mission stimuli (.zip) |
Download a .zip file containing all stimuli provided to participants throughout the study. This export does not include any data from participant responses. It only includes the stimuli you added to questions when designing your study. |
Print/PDF
On the Print/PDF tab of the export modal, you can customize a PDF version of your data to export. Here, select how you want your PDF to be formatted and click Download select to export your PDF. When prompted, click Download in the progress modal.
Here’s a breakdown of each option:

Crosstab
Cross tab analysis can be useful if you want to understand the relationship between two factors in your study. For example, maybe you want to see how many people of a certain age gave a particular answer to a question. Or maybe you want to see how many people in a certain state responded a certain way. You can do that with a crosstab export.
On the Crosstab tab of the export modal, make your selections and click Download selected to export your crosstab as a .csv file. When prompted, click Download in the progress modal.
Here’s a breakdown of each option:

| Answers | Displays every possible answer to your study questions. |
| Tags |
Displays all researcher-created tags in your study. This option also includes AI notable moments (usability tests only) and AI themes if generated for your study.
Note: Tags are counted once per participant. For example, if you tag two questions from the same participant with Tag A, that participant will still only be counted once when generating your crosstab.

| Group | Displays each researcher-created participant group, counting the number of participants who are part of each group as it relates to your other selection(s). |
| Days | Displays the days of the week, counting the number of participants who completed their response on each day as it relates to your other selection(s). |
| Times | Displays each hour of the day, counting the number of participants who completed their response within each hour as it relates to your other selection(s). |
| Age | Displays ages 13 and up, counting the number of participants who fall into each group as it relates to your other selection(s). |

| Home city | Displays the home cities provided by participants across your study, counting the number of participants who reside in each as it relates to your other selection(s). |
| Home country | Displays the home countries provided by participants across your study, counting the number of participants who reside in each as it relates to your other selection(s). |
| Demographics | Displays other demographics, like education level, employment status, and more, counting the number of participants who each applies to as it relates to your other selection(s). |
Tags
On the Tags tab of the export modal, you can download your data using a structure based on any tags you’ve added throughout your study responses. You can download count data for each tag, tagged responses themselves, and more. Here, make a selection and click Download selected to complete your export. When prompted, click Download in the progress modal.

| Tagged responses (.csv) | Download a .csv file that includes all responses that have been given a tag in your study. |
| Tag groups and tags (.csv) | Download a .csv file that includes a list of all tags in your study as well as the tag group they’ve been added to. Tags without tag groups will be labeled Ungrouped. |
Past exports
On the Past exports tab of the export modal, you can view a history of previous exports that have been completed in your study. This is useful if you want to quickly re-download a file you’ve downloaded in the past or if you want to see what data your collaborators have exported. To download a past export, click the download icon beside it on the list.
