# Manage language of an interview study

Research happens in many different languages. So, you can customize your interview study to use the language your participants are most comfortable with. When you select a language for your interview study, Dscout will automatically use that language in the following places:

* Automated emails and reminders sent to participants.
* In-session close captioning.

You can select from the following languages:

* English.
* German.
* Spanish.
* French.
* Mandarin/Simplified Chinese.
* Japanese.
* Korean.
* Portuguese (Brazilian).
* Italian.

**To set the language of an interview study:**

{% hint style="warning" %}
You cannot change the language of your study once it’s launched. Be sure you’ve selected your desired language before you open it to participants.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Navigate to the **Setup** tab of your study. Then, select **Details**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click anywhere in the **Specs** section.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Done**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, the language of your study is saved. Any automated study emails and reminders sent by Dscout will use your selected language.

{% hint style="info" %}
Keep in mind any text you enter to customize your study (like your study’s name and overview) will not automatically be translated. Enter this text exactly as you want it to appear to participants.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/interview-studies/create-an-interview-study/manage-language-of-an-interview-study.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
