# Connect a Qualtrics survey to a study

Once you've connected the Qualtrics integration, you can attach Qualtrics surveys as screeners to your Private Panels studies. Then, you can send the screener to your participants directly using a share link or an email through Private Panels.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** To connect a Qualtrics survey, you must first **publish** the survey within Qualtrics. Qualtrics surveys that have not been published will not be available in Private Panels.
{% endhint %}

### **Connect a Qualtrics survey to a study**

You'll connect your Qualtrics screener from within the **Screeners** tab of your study.

**To connect a Qualtrics screener to a Private Panels study:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Navigate to the **Screeners** tab of your Private Panels study.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **New screener**. The new screener modal is displayed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/4VtBjheUV4gbTTJvoJIo" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select an **Associated panel** for your screener. This is the panel applicants will be added to if they qualify after taking your screener.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/Pp2c58jTQ5PGe2Jvalfr" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select **Qualtrics Survey** from the **Screener Tool** drop-down.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select which **Qualtrics survey** you want to use as a screener.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/uov0RkAZwqEIfBRILVdR" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter any **Custom fields** you want to pass back to Qualtrics. For more information, see [Configure custom fields in a Qualtrics screener](/private-panels/integrations/qualtrics-integration/configure-custom-fields-in-a-qualtrics-screener.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Create screener**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, your Qualtrics screener is added to your Private Panels study and the screener's settings are displayed. Here, you can change the following settings:

* **Associated panel:** The panel applicants will be added to if they qualify after taking the screener.
* **Internal title:** The name of the screener displayed to you and your teammates (not to your applicants).
* **Internal description:** The description of the screener displayed to you and your teammates (not to your applicants).
* **Custom fields:** Custom embedded data passed from Private Panels back to Qualtrics. For example, you can store a panelist's email alongside their data in Qualtrics. For more information, see [Configure custom fields in a Qualtrics screener](/private-panels/integrations/qualtrics-integration/configure-custom-fields-in-a-qualtrics-screener.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** You cannot change the **Who can take this screener** setting on Qualtrics surveys. By default, this setting is set to **Anyone (even people outside my panel)**.
{% endhint %}

When you're ready, you can share your screener with participants in one of two ways: [via share link](#get-a-qualtrics-screener-share-link) or [directly through Private Panels](#how-to-send-a-survey).

### Share a Qualtrics screener via share link

Once you've added your Qualtrics screener to your Private Panels study, you can copy the share link to send directly to your participants.

**To share a Qualtrics screener using a share link:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
On the **Screeners** tab of your study, click your Qualtrics screener. The screener's settings are displayed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/hMgjC1zEyKCsMe7Zviid" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Under **Public details**, click **Copy** to copy the **Public link** to your clipboard.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/dpMLDZDz7ssLhswDpC86" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, the share link is copied to your clipboard. You can send it to participants however is easiest: in an email, in a direct message, or through your preferred communication method.

### Share a Qualtrics screener via Private Panels

If you already have panelists to screen using your Qualtrics screener, you can send it directly to them through Private Panels.

**To share a qualtrics screener using a Private Panels email:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
On the **Overview** tab of your study, select the panelists you want to send the screener to. Use the checkboxes beside each panelist's name to select them.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/95m71D6TIcmDFFVrcQJr" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Send message**. A list of options is displayed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Send screener: \[Your Qualtrics screener's name]**. A confirmation modal is displayed showing the email that will be sent to your selected participants.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/QH55hJWwecI9a4zTiJY1" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Confirm the information in the modal. If you need to make adjustments, close the modal, make the necessary changes to email templates or email copy, then repeat the steps above.

{% hint style="success" %}
Tip: You can also schedule your email to send at a later time or date by clicking More and selecting Schedule to send.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Send to x person/people**. A confirmation modal is displayed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/EzVy3eo4xYWTE31x4jHW" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **OK** in the modal to confirm.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, your screener is sent to your selected panelists via email.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/private-panels/integrations/qualtrics-integration/connect-a-qualtrics-survey-to-a-study.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
