# How to mark someone as Do Not Recruit or Cheater Repeater

We also have a feature called [Blocklist](/private-panels/panel-management/blocklist.md), give it a shot!

You can use [custom panel properties](/private-panels/panel-management/panel-properties.md) or [custom tags](/private-panels/panel-management/panelist-tags.md) if you need to mark panelists as "Do Not Recruit" (DNR) or "Cheater Repeater".

## Using custom panel properties to identify DNR panelists

### Create custom panel property

We recommend having **DNR** and **Caution** options to assign to panelists so you have a more insightful view when it comes to the risk level of the panelist. However, you can add your preferred options.

Follow the steps below to create a custom panel property that you can use to mark panelists as **DNR** or **Caution** for recruitment in studies:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to **Panel Panel Properties**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **New Property** button. Alternatively, you can use the **N** shortcut key on your keyboard.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Create a new property. Type **DNR Status** on the textbox below **Title**. You can also type any title that you prefer.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select the property type. Click the drop-down button below **Type**, then select **Single-select (Dropdown)** from the options.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Add the **DNR** option. The **Options** section will appear on the pop-up. Add the **DNR** option by clicking the **+ Add option** button.

Type **DNR** on the **Label** and **Value** textboxes. You can type different texts for these two, just make sure that it'll be easy to understand that they're referring to the same attribute.

**Label** will show up as a selectable value in the point of view of the user. **Value** is the actual value stored in the database, and it can be different from **Label**. For example, Label = California, Value = CA.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Add the **Caution** option. Repeat steps 5 and 6, but this time type **Caution** on the **Label** and **Value** textboxes.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Create the property. Click the **Create Property** button.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Identify DNR panelists

Once you've created the DNR Status custom panel property, you can start tagging panelists with DNR, Caution, or any options that you added. You can do this in **Panel Panelists** by clicking the name of the panelist so their profile view will open. Scroll down to the newly added **DNR Status** custom panel property, then click its drop-down button. Select the status that you'd like to assign to the selected panelist.

## Using custom tags to identify DNR panelists

The quickest way to mark panelists as DNR is by using custom tags. You can tag panelists one-by-one or simultaneously. Both can be done in **Panel Panelists**.

### Tagging a panelist

To tag a panelist:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Click their name to open the panelist's profile view.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **+Add tag** button under the **Tags** section.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select a tag.

The **Select tag** pop-up will appear. If the **DNR** tag exists already, it will appear on the list within the pop-up. Click to assign to the selected panelist.

If the tag doesn't exist yet, the **Create new tag: "DNR"** button will appear. Click the button to create the tag and assign to the selected panelist.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Tagging multiple panelists simultaneously

Tagging multiple panelists simultaneously can be done in **Panel Panelists** through **Bulk Actions**. The steps to do this are as follows:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Select the panelists you'd like to tag.

Tick the checkbox that appears beside their name when you over your mouse cursor over them.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Bulk Actions**. Then select **Tag panelists** from the drop-down options.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Choose the tag.

The **Tag # panelists** pop-up will appear. If the **DNR** tag exists already, it will appear on the list within the pop-up. Click to assign to the selected panelist.

If the tag doesn't exist yet, the **Create new tag: "DNR"** button will appear. Click the button to create the tag and assign to the selected panelist.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Viewing panelists marked as DNR

Panelists marked as DNR, whether it's by custom panel properties or custom tags, can be viewed using the filter function. Both can be done by clicking the **+ Add Filter** button in **Panel Panelists**.

### Viewing panelists marked as DNR using custom panel properties

To view those marked as **DNR** by using custom panel properties, select the **DNR Status** custom panel property from the **+ Add Filter** drop-down options. Then, provide information for the following prompts. The filter condition should be: **DNR Status** contains **is DNR**. Once this condition has been set, click the **Done** button.

On the other hand, if you'd like to FILTER OUT those panelists that are marked as DNR, the condition should be **DNR Status** contains **is not DNR**.

### Viewing panelists marked as DNR using custom tags

If you used tags to mark DNR panelists, select **Panelist Tag** from the **+ Add Filter** drop-down options. Tick the checkbox beside **DNR** so the filter condition would be: **Panelist Tag is DNR**.

If you'd like to FILTER OUT the panelists tagged with **DNR**, select the **Exclude Panelist Tag** option from the **+ Add Filter** drop-down options instead of the **Panelist Tag**. Then, tick the checkbox beside **DNR** so the condition would be: **Exclude Panelist Tag is DNR**. Only those panelists that are not tagged with DNR will be shown.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/private-panels/panel-management/how-to-mark-someone-as-do-not-recruit-or-cheater-repeater.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
