# Public share links

Anyone who has the public share link will be able to see the media you’ve shared—no Dscout login required! Our public share links are available for all product areas—tap the links below to learn more about sharing media from your study type:

**Don't see the ability to create public share links?** At this time, share links are only available for subscription accounts. Chat with your Account Manager to learn more!

## Creating a public share link

Users with a Member or Researcher seat and above can create public share links. The public share link icon is found in a few different places depending on your study type; check out the sections to learn more about where the option is found based on your project, then read on to learn about setting up your link once generated.

### Usability tests

Public share links are available for the [full recorded session view](/usability-tests/analyze-a-usability-test/view-usability-test-session-recordings.md) in usability tests.

### Live

Public share links are available for [clips](/interview-studies/view-interview-session-recordings/clips-and-playlists-in-interview-studies.md) you've created from your Live sessions.

Navigate to the "Sessions" tab of your study.

Tap the share icon to the right of any clip (indicated by the purple "paper + scissors" icon).

Click "Generate public share link".

You can also tap into the session recording you'd like to share clips from, locate the clips section below your session player, then select the "Share" option to the right of your clip.

## Configuring your public share link

Once the public share link is generated, you’ll see a few additional options:

* Add a title to your link, to give viewers more context for what they’re seeing
* Require a password to view the link page, for additional security
* Set an expiration date for your link (default expiration is one year)

**Note:** if your link expiration date extends beyond your Dscout account access, your public share link(s) will expire on the date of your subscription or trial end date.

Customize your link settings, then click “Save.” The “Share” button for that piece of media will change to “Sharing” to reflect your link's active status.

All that’s left is to send the link—and password, if required—to your desired audience. **Keep in mind: Anyone who has the public share link can view this media and can share the link with others. You are responsible for ensuring you only provide access to authorized individuals.**

## Editing/deleting a public share link

To edit or delete an existing public share link, click the “Shared” button on the desired media to open the link settings modal.

You can edit the title, access code requirements, or expiration date for your public share link in the settings modal. Click “Save” to apply any edits. The link URL won’t change, so no need to re-send to viewers—just make sure that you pass along any new/updated access codes.

To delete your public share link, click “Delete public share link," which will immediately delete the link and access to the video via your prior link. Anyone who attempts to visit the deleted link will see a message that the shared content is no longer available.

## Managing public share links for a project

To help you keep track of all the public share links in your project, we’ve created a link manager at the project level. Researchers can access the link manager by clicking **Manage share links** within a project.

The link manager shows the link title, type, number of views, and expiration date for each public share link in your project. Click the “Edit Link” button to edit or delete an individual link.

**Note:** The project link manager shows up to 120 public share links. If you create more than 120 links in a given project, simply delete any links that are no longer in use to show the most relevant links in the manager.

## Sharing media to Slack

Sharing media to Slack requires the Dscout Account Owner, admin, or researcher to authorize a Slack workspace on the “Integrations” tab of the Account Management page. [Learn more](/integrations/dscout-slack-integration.md) about the Slack integration for Dscout.

If your Dscout account has the Slack integration enabled, you can use public share links to send Dscout media directly to public channels in your Slack workspace.
