When building Express missions and Recruit screeners, you might find that there are some questions you frequently ask across projects. To help speed up your research process, you can save these questions in a question bank so you can easily access them in the future—and ensure that you and your Dscout collaborators are asking them consistently while you’re at it.

Bank a question
You can bank (or save) a question after you’ve added it to your mission or screener. You’ll then give that question a name and select where you want it saved so you can easily find it in your question bank later.
To bank a question:
- In the builder, click the ellipses at the top right of the question.
- Click Save question. The Save as new question dialog appears.
- Enter a Title.
- (if applicable) Select a Save to location. You can either save the question to a specific workspace or make it available to everyone in your Dscout account. If your account doesn’t have workspaces, the question will automatically be saved at the account level.
- Click Save question.
Now, your question (and answer settings for knockout questions) are saved in your question bank. You (and anyone working in your workspace or account, depending on your selection) can now quickly add it to future missions or screeners.
Add a banked question to a mission or screener
Once you’ve added a question (or a few!) to your question bank, you can add them to your missions or screeners directly from the builder. In Express, you can do so from either the Recruit or Create tabs. And in Recruit, you can do so from the Qualify and Refine tabs.
To add a banked question to a mission or screener:
- In the builder, click +Add (or +Add a screener question) in the sidebar or beneath your last question. Or, click the + icon between existing questions.
- Click Add from question bank. The Question bank dialog appears, displaying all of your saved questions (as well as a few sample questions courtesy of Dscout).
- Select a question(s).
- Click Add question to mission/screener.
Now, your selected question(s) are added to your mission or screener exactly as you’d previously saved them.
Search or filter the question bank
If you have a lot of questions saved, you can save time by searching or filtering the question bank to find what you’re looking for. To search, enter any keywords from the question’s title, prompt, or choices into the search bar at the top of the question bank:
To filter, click the filter icon to the right of the search bar and select filters to apply from Saved location, Author, or Favorites (more on that in the next section):
Mark a question as a favorite
If you find yourself going back to specific banked questions over and over, you can mark them as favorites so they’re even easier to find while filtering. To mark a question as a favorite, click the heart icon at the top right of a question:
And don’t worry—your favorites are private to you, no one else can see them.
Delete a banked question
If you no longer need to keep a certain question in your question bank, you can delete it—with a few restrictions: Account owners and admins can delete any question (including the sample questions provided by default). Workspace leads can delete questions from the workspaces they lead. And if none of those roles apply to you, you can only delete the questions you saved yourself.
To delete a banked question:
- In the builder, click +Add (or +Add a screener question) in the sidebar or beneath your last question.
- Click Add from question bank. The Question bank dialog appears.
- Click the ellipses at the top right of the question.
- Click Delete to delete the question.
Now, the question is no longer saved in the question bank. You can, of course, re-add the question as new at any time.
Edit a banked question
While a question may have seemed perfect when you initially saved it, your opinion on that might change later. If you want to edit a banked question, you can do so by adding the question to a mission or screener, editing the question, and resaving the question to the question bank. Then, you can delete the previous version of the question from the question bank. For help with any part of this, refer to the above sections.
