# Pay incentives with Tango Card

Once your study has a Tango Card reward selected, you can pay participants the same way you'd pay them with any other method in Private Panels.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** For a walkthrough of every payment method available in Private Panels, see [Pay incentives in Private Panels](/private-panels/studies/pay-incentives-in-private-panels.md).
{% endhint %}

### Pay participants

**To pay participants with Tango Card:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Navigate to the study where you want to issue incentives.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select the participants you want to pay using the checkboxes on the left of the page.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
From the **Bulk actions** drop-down, select **Pay respondents**. The bulk pay modal is displayed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2Fvp5KxdTD4JXDIFHwKfe0%2FTangocard.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=8e76d426-da02-4317-a221-09ee027982e8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
From the **Payment method** drop-down, select **Tango Card**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Review the **Paying from** line, which shows the funding account this payment will draw on and its current balance in Tango Card.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** This balance is read live from Tango Card, so it may take a moment to appear.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter the **Amount** each participant should be paid.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2F8ZdEz4nknnJx0Lnu9kje%2FTangocard%20(4).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=9af8d3ae-fbf6-44cf-98d6-e7b9fe9afb90" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Confirm**. The button shows the total you're about to send. For example, **Confirm, pay $150**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, your payments are on their way. Paid participants show as **Completed** in your study, and the amount they were paid is listed in the **Paid** column.

<figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2FXYghS1prj4XXtYbyHUVN%2FTangocard%20(3).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=27185ca2-8332-431e-8976-8885860bcd19" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### What do participants see?

Participants receive an email from Tango Card at their **Payment Email** address, inviting them to claim the reward you selected for the study.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** Participants can be notified at an address other than their primary email. To change it, update the **Payment Email** property on their profile. For more information, see [Pay incentives in Private Panels](/private-panels/studies/pay-incentives-in-private-panels.md).
{% endhint %}

### Before you can confirm

The **Confirm** button stays disabled until everything a Tango Card payment needs is in place. Check the following if you can't submit a payment:

* **The study has a Tango Card reward selected.** If it doesn't, you'll see a message pointing you to Study Settings. For more information, see [Set up Tango Card for a study](/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/set-up-tango-card-for-a-study.md).
* **The study's incentive currency is USD.** Tango Card payments are processed in USD only.
* **The funding account is selected.** If your platform holds several accounts and the study hasn't chosen one, pick one in Study Settings.
* **Your Tango Card funding account has enough balance** to cover the amount multiplied by the number of participants. If it doesn't, the payment is refused and the message tells you your current balance and what's needed.

For the exact messages and how to resolve them, see [Troubleshoot the Tango Card integration](/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/troubleshoot-the-tango-card-integration.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** If a payment fails after you confirm it, that participant is returned to an unpaid state and marked **Payment failed**, and the person who sent the payment receives an email letting them know. You can then fix the cause and issue the payment again.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/pay-incentives-with-tango-card.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
