# Set up the Tango Card integration

This guide walks you through setting up the Tango Card integration in your Private Panels account.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** The Tango Card integration is configured at the organization level, meaning it will be available to everyone with access to your Private Panels organization once configured without them needing to set it up themselves.
{% endhint %}

### Requirements

**To set up the Tango Card integration, you'll need:**

* An active Tango Card account.
* The following details about your Tango Card account:
  * Platform name.
  * API key.
* At least one Tango Card funding account that's active, denominated in USD, and funded.
* A User or Admin seat in Private Panels. Viewers can't connect integrations.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** Your platform name and API key live in your Tango Card portal, under **Team settings** → **API credentials**. These are typically only available to users with administrator access to your Tango Card account. If you don't have this access, partner with the person on your team who does.
{% endhint %}

### Set up the integration

You can connect Private Panels to your Tango Card account from the **Settings** page within Private Panels.

**To connect Private Panels to Tango Card:**

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Navigate to the **Settings** tab in Private Panels. Then, select **Integrations**.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2FnZpkzOUOO05umc3ZDWsl%2FQualtrics_Integration%20(9).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=c0f06705-dddf-41df-836c-f64fb35670ec" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Under **Tango Card**, click **Connect**. The integration settings modal is displayed.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2FsgO4LG3ufxCtfQJLPpL0%2FTangocard%20(1).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=654893f9-d6a4-49ff-8db4-e7661c31877b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter your Tango Card **Platform name**. This is the name of your organization's Tango Card platform, and it looks something like `acme-platform`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Enter your Tango Card **API key**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Your API key is stored encrypted and isn't displayed again after you connect.
{% endhint %}

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2F9L1M8BjBTWE98NDwloCA%2FTangocard%20(6).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=607e3025-dc1b-46a1-b20e-0d9143712eec" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Connect**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Now, a confirmation message is displayed and your Private Panels organization is connected to your Tango Card account. Your platform name is displayed on the **Integrations** page:

<figure><img src="https://1440167164-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FT7fhyut5rrQHwe5QRGot%2Fuploads%2Ft9HWaFtO9JiYB3M3449q%2FTangocard%20(5).jpg?alt=media&amp;token=a0f5ae7b-ca1a-4ae7-b6c7-107bcedb957b" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Private Panels checks your details with Tango Card before saving them. If Tango Card rejects them, nothing is stored and you'll see an error explaining why. For more information, see [Troubleshoot the Tango Card integration](/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/troubleshoot-the-tango-card-integration.md).
{% endhint %}

You can return to this page to **Edit** your Tango Card details at any time, or to **Disconnect** the integration altogether.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** When you click **Edit**, your platform name is filled in for you, but you'll need to re-enter your API key. This is by design—we never display a stored key back to you.
{% endhint %}

### Good to know

* **Tango Card payments are USD only.** A study can only be paid with Tango Card when its incentive currency is USD.
* **Organizations that pay in points don't see Tango Card as a payment method.** Points-based incentives are handled manually, using the **Mark as paid** option.
* **Disconnecting doesn't clear your studies' Tango Card selections.** That way, rotating an API key or reconnecting the same platform leaves your studies untouched. If you connect a *different* Tango Card platform, re-select the reward and funding account on each study.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** Once you've set up the Tango Card integration, you'll still need to choose a reward for each study before you can pay anyone. For more information, see [Set up Tango Card for a study](/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/set-up-tango-card-for-a-study.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.dscout.com/private-panels/integrations/private-panels-integrations/tango-card-integration/set-up-the-tango-card-integration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
