You can make your interview study engaging and welcoming by customizing its appearance. You can add a custom hero image, apply your company’s branding, and more.
Study name
The study name gives participants an idea of what you’ll discuss during their interview session. An external-facing study name is required (this is the name that participants will see), but you can also include a private, internal-facing study name for easy identification among your collaborators.
To change your study’s external name:
- Navigate to the Setup tab of your study. Then, select Details.
- Click the current study name in the top left corner.
- Enter your desired study name.
- Click Enter or Return on your keyboard to save your changes.
Now, your study name is saved. Participants will see this name when joining your study or on your study’s webpage if you’re using one to recruit.
To change your study’s internal name:
- Navigate to the Setup tab of your study. Then, select Details.
- Click anywhere in the Specs section.
- Click Advanced options. The Internal name field is displayed.
- Enter the desired Internal name.
- Click Done.
Now, your internal study name is saved. This name will only be visible to your collaborators in Dscout, and it will appear on the study card on the project details page.
Hero image
The hero image is the first thing participants see when accessing your study. You can upload your own hero image or choose one provided by Unsplash.
To change your study’s hero image:
- Navigate to the Setup tab of your study. Then, select Details.
- Click anywhere in the Specs section.
-
Under Hero image, search for a photo on the Photos tab to select an image from Unsplash. Or, click Upload your own to choose a local file.
Note: If an image is already selected, click Choose a new image to change it.Note: The maximum file size for uploaded photos is 3MB. - Click Save image selection.
- Click Done.
Now, your hero image is saved. Participants will see this image when joining your study or on your study’s webpage if you’re using one to recruit.
Company branding
Adding your organization’s branding to your Dscout studies gives them a consistent look and feel for participants who might take part in multiple studies for you.
To add company branding to your study:
- Navigate to the Setup tab of your study. Then, select Details.
- Click anywhere in the Specs section.
- Set the Company branding toggle to ON. Company branding settings are displayed.
- Enter the following details about your organization:

|
Tip: If your organization has default custom branding set up at your Dscout account level, you can enable that by clicking Add default branding. For more information, see Company branding.
- Click Done.
Now, your organization’s branding is saved and will be displayed to participants when joining your study or on your study’s webpage if you’re using one to recruit.
Overview
Your study’s overview should offer participants a description of what you expect to cover in their interview session. However, you don’t want to give away enough information that participants can infer too much about your research objectives. Give enough detail that participants know what they’re signing up for, but not enough that they know what answers you’re looking for.
To add an overview to your study:
- Navigate to the Setup tab of your study. Then, select Details.
- Click anywhere in the Overview section.
-
Enter an overview for your study in the text box. You can format your text in the following ways:
- *bold* = bold
- _italic_ = italic
- <https://examplelink.com> = https://examplelink.com
- [Sample link](https://examplelink.com) = Sample link
- Click Done.
Now, your study overview is saved and will be displayed to participants when they join or on your study’s webpage if you’re using one to recruit.
